Oceanography/Hydrology
Their are plenty of fresh water sources in North Carolina.  The state is ful of 12,200 kilometers of water.  North Carolina flows with rivers and lakes that are full of freshwater.  A great example is Falls Lake, which is right here in Raleigh.  It is the water source, though it is a small lake to be the water source for such a big city.  The Neuse River, which is the longest-running river in the state, and runs through the heart of Wake County.  Also the Tar River runs through the northern portion of the state.

The Atlantic Coast of North Carolina includes many famous places, where the Wright Brothers took flight, where legendary lighthouses stand.  This is also where Carolina meets its end.  North Carolina splits off into small islands.  Also this is the home to plenty of good and sweet North Carolina beaches.  North Carolina's rivers drown out into the Atlantic here also.  Here temperatures are very warm, and it is a very moist climate.  Most tourists come during the summer to come to the beaches.

 Freshwater
North Carolina has a ton of rivers that run through the state.  Just looking here at the map just makes it look like the entire state is covered in rivers and lakes.  The longest river in North Carolina is the Neuse River.  Rivers in North Carolina mostly drain out of river basins, however a few such as the Tar and Neuse River drain itself into the Pamlico Sound.  Rivers are a great source for North Carolina's fresh water.

Personally, I'm a fan of lakes.  Small enouygh but big enough to spend an afternoon on the boat, tubing, just having a blast.  I live not even two minutes from Falls Lake, Raleighs water source.  It is a man-made lake.  Anyways, quite a few lakes in North Carolina are man-made.  Hyco Lake in northern N.C. also is man-made.  Lakes are freshwater sources for quite a few cities and towns in North Carolina.  They are also a good source of recreation, and fishing.  Lakes are good contributors to North Carolinas freshwater source.

Wetlands are huge in North Carolina.  Only four states in the country have a larger wetland area than North Carolina.  Most of these lands are contained within the Eastern Coastal Plain.  Wetlands protect many areas from flooding during severe storms.  Wetlands are also hosts to several different types of species.  Many North Carolinians now protect Wetlands because of the resources they provide.  Wetlands are big in our state.
